W Type Foundry

W Type Foundry is a Latin-American type design collective with studios in Santiago, London, and Barcelona. Originally launched in 2012 as Without Foundry by Diego Aravena Silo and Felipe Sanzana, the studio relaunched in 2016 as W Type Foundry with an expanded team including Magdalena Arasanz, Patricio Truenos, David Suid, and Gaspar Munoz.

Design Philosophy

W Type Foundry produces typefaces that range from super display fonts to functional branding tools. Their catalog emphasizes versatility and practical utility, with families designed for corporate identity systems and editorial applications. The foundry's Latin-American perspective brings a distinctive warmth to their neo-grotesk and geometric designs.

Notable Typefaces

The foundry's catalog includes WTF Forma, a contemporary DIN-influenced sans-serif available in 50 styles across five widths, designed primarily for B2B corporate identity systems. All W Type Foundry typefaces use the "WTF" prefix as a foundry identifier, inherited from the original "Without Foundry" name. Their work bridges European typographic tradition and contemporary Latin-American design sensibility, with a focus on systematic corporate type systems.
